Tour 2- Old, New & Jewish Prague - 4 Hour

Your licensed guide will meet you at your hotel and take you first to Wenceslas Square where much of Prague's political history has unfolded. Most recently St. Wenceslas's statue guarded over the Velvet Revolution and the fall of Communist rule. You'll continue to the 12th century Old Town Square with its Astronomical Clock, the church of Our Lady Before Tyn, St. Nicholas church, and the Kinsky palace. The Old Town Hall Tower, built in 1338 has an elevator, and for a small additional fee, you can ride to the top for terrific views over the square and the rest of Prague.

Then on to the Jewish Quarter, dating back to the 13th century, though much of it heavily redeveloped between 1893 – 1913. The oldest synagogue in Central Europe is here "The Old-New Synagogue" built in 1270. Note the original interior wrought-iron grill and chandeliers. It is still a house of prayer and the main synagogue of the small Prague Jewish community. It is said that the body of Golem (allegedly created by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel) lies in the attic where the genizah of Prague's community is kept (not open to the public). Next door is the Jewish cemetery, established in the mid-15th century and serving as a burial site till 1787. Rabbi Jehuda Low (1609) and Mordechai Maisel (1601) rest here. At the end of your tour you may stay for further exploration or return you to your hotel.
