Cambridge Private Tour Guide

My name is Susan Francis- Let me welcome you to our region and open your eyes to what is on offer.  I am a qualified Blue Badge Guide based in Cambridge.  I have more than 9 years experience as a private tourist guide and offer walking tours including in-depth college visits in Cambridge.  I will also accompany coaches or private vehicles further afield.  I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm and love of our region with you.

My City- Cambridge is a city full of beautiful sights.  Make sure you have enough time to see and hear about the following: the many colleges and the University, where every corner leads to fascinating historic buildings; fantastic King’s College Chapel; the myriad of stories about people associated with the University – world famous scientists, authors and artists; the Backs – the gardens and the River Cam at the back of the colleges; the amazing collection at the Fitzwilliam Museum; the beautiful University Botanic Garden; the newly revamped shopping centre, a mixture of old and new.

Discover the riches on offer in the region:  Ely with its cathedral known as the Ship of the Fens, Oliver Cromwell’s home nearby and the sometimes bleak and mystical Fenland which surrounds it; Newmarket, home to British horse racing; Bury St Edmunds, historic market town; Suffolk and the wool towns; Constable country; the many National Trust properties.

About Me- I trained first as a teacher at Homerton College in Cambridge.  I have been guiding since 1998.  Keen to maintain high standards of training among guides, I have worked as an examiner on behalf of the Institute of Tourist Guiding.  I am qualified to guide in French and am specially trained to guide in Ely Cathedral and Bury St Edmunds. 

Special Interest Tours-  Cambridge and the surrounding region lends itself to a variety of tours: Science, Architecture, American Heritage, Literary, William Morris, Walking and Punting, Gardens… the list of specialist tours is as flexible as the client’s interest and can be tailored on an individual basis.

Walking tours:
1 hour: 60 GBP
2 hours: 70 GBP
Half-day: 110 GBP
Full day: 170 GBP
Client’s own transport for driving tours.  Walking / punting tours, price on application.
