Provence Private Tour Guide
My name is Laurence. I am an independent private guide in Avignon and in Provence around Avignon, for walking and driving tours. I have both the government license for guiding and the transport license that allows me to drive you around in my own car. I offer personalized visits, adapted to your wishes and interests, at your own pace, in the most comfortable conditions, and in a friendly atmosphere. I will help you love Provence as I do, discover it in a different way through an authentic experience.
My Region- Avignon is known around the world for its famous bridge and the Popes’ palace, but there are many other marvels to discover, all protected within its 14th century ramparts: treasures of architecture, exquisite museums, gastronomy restaurants, wine and local crafts, shady café terraces, and charming squares…
And within 30 minutes to an hour drive, you get to the most famous, attractive and typical sites in Provence: Orange (Roman theatre), Pont du Gard (Roman aqueduct), Châteauneuf-du-Pape (famous wines!), Arles (roman arenas, Romanesque church and cloister, charming pedestrian streets), les Baux-de-Provence (stunning village and fortress) , St-Rémy and the exceptional villages and landscapes of Luberon, like Gordes, Ménerbes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lourmarin… And so much more ! Come and visit with me the land of lavender, wine, olive oil, painters’ landscapes…
About Me- Since I was a child, I have welcomed and guided foreign friends around. So I naturally studied to become a national licensed guide, and continued with 3 years of art history in the Louvre school in Paris. I guided tours all over France and nearby European countries for many years, and more recently worked as a relocation agent. I have lived and traveled abroad and know what a difference a native perspective can make! I also speak Spanish and German.
Special Interest Tours- I can also take you to less known places, beautiful natural sites, show you my favorite shops and restaurants, explain to you the window of a pastry shop, the local products on the market, tell you about daily life here, take you to antique shops or stop at local handicrafts’ workshops, olive oil mills, wine producers… Theme visits can be about Roman monuments in Provence, gastronomy tours, Van Gogh’s stay in Provence, favorites of Peter Mayle… And if you want to go canoeing or horse back riding in Camargue, I know where to take you! I can also guide small groups in a minibus.

My Past Guest's Comments
Barbara and I wanted to say thanks for your assistance. We were very impressed with your knowledge and flexibility. Our little group had youth on their first trip abroad, and adults in their 50's. You were able to show everyone things of interest and beauty. Even after we left Provence, your suggestions for the girls were very helpful. (Catherine and Bentley were very impressed by the chocolate.) I believe that they developed an appetite and appreciation for the things we saw, and that they will return in a few years and explore as young adults. Perhaps it will someday mean as much to them as it does for us. Looking forward to visiting with you again. Again, thanks, Tony and Barbara, Raleigh NC, March 05
