Netherlands Private Tour Guide

Phot Tour Guide Netherlands

My name is Maya Funnekotter-Noordam and I will be much obliged to serve as your private guide.  I can conduct private tours, be it a walking, biking or driving tour.  As Holland is small in size (but not in history and views!), I conduct tours throughout the entire country.

My City- My home town is Haarlem, the jewel on the river Spaarne just 20 minutes out of Amsterdam, with an abundance of historical buildings dating back to the 17th century, exclusive antique shops and cozy restaurants and terraces. The Frans Hals Museum features 17th century Dutch paintings and the Teylers’ Museum is the oldest museum in The Netherlands with a great variety of displayed art and artefacts. One can combine a driving tour of Amsterdam with a walking tour of Haarlem followed by a trip to the famous  village of Volendam and close off the day at the world famous Zaanse Schans.

About Me- I have been a licensed guide for the past 20 years and speak English, German, French and Spanish fluently. For me guiding is not throwing years and facts around but providing information that meets the clients interest. Warmth, personal approach and a genuine hospitable attitude are my trade marks.

A choice of possibilities

  • City tour Amsterdam with or without a visit to one of the famous museums: The Rijksmuseum with its 17th century collection of paintings and/or the Van Gogh Museum and/or the Rembrandt House Museum
  • The Province of North Holland, including a visit to the traditional fisherman’s villages Marken and Volendam and/or a visit to the world famous open air museum “Zaanse Schans”
  • From end of March till half May a flower bulb  field tour with a visit to the well known Keukenhof with its abundance of all kinds of bulb flowers
  • Tour of The Hague, the worlds “Legal Capital” and also the residence city of our queen and our government, and Rotterdam, famous for its harbour and its modern architecture
  • The Delta Works in the South-West of the country where you can see how the Dutch have protected themselves from the sea after the Great Flood of 1953
  • Visit of 17th century Haarlem
  • Also tours of more than 1 day, including visiting some interesting Belgium cities, are possible

Special Interest Tours- 2008: The Year of the “Hidden Treasures”
This year the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions has put the spotlight on the “Hidden Treasures” of The Netherlands. 3 sub themes have been developed: Culture & History, Land and Water, Gastronomy and Hotels. I’ll be happy to give you more information on these hidden treasures and put a tailor made itinerary together to destinations not every visitor to our country will see.
