Umbria Private Tour Guide

My name is Maria Sensi and I am a private independent guide for the whole region of Umbria.   I can offer private guided tours (walking or driving tours) in this marvelous area and its “precious” towns as Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Norcia, Cascia, Deruta, Bevagna, Montefalco, Trasimeno Lake.

My Region- Umbria is a very beautiful region: the Tiber flows from North to South and we have two lakes.  Umbrians and Etruscans lived here in the 7th century B.C., followed by Romans who conquered this gorgeous green area.

Very important artists left their work here in the Middle Ages (as Nicola and Giovanni Pisano in PERUGIA, Cimabue, Giotto, Martini, Lorenzetti in ASSISI…).

During the Renaissance, painters as Piero della Francesca, Luca Signorelli, Perugino, Pinturicchio worked in many towns, including PERUGIA, ORVIETO, SPELLO …

Through the Baroque (Pietro da Cortona…) up to contemporary times (Burri, Dorazio…) Umbria has developed great history and art.

About Me- I was born in Antibes (France) and had my art history degree at the University of Perugia.  I worked in art galleries and museums and I’m having my PhD in art history at La Sorbonne University, Paris.  I am a licensed guide in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish.

Special Interest Tours- I can offer unique types of tours for special interests: themed tours (for example, on Roman, Medieval, Renaissance or Contemporary art), tours “on the footsteps of Saint Francis” (Assisi and its churches), tours combining arts and crafts (ceramics, stained-glass windows, ancient printing…). I can also guide for bus groups.
