Bucharest Private Tour Guide

My name is Mihai Toncescu.  I am a private, independent guide in the city of Bucuresti and throughout Romania.  I offer walking tours through the old town of Bucuresti, as well as driving tours through Bucuresti, its surroundings and the most beautiful places, from natural or cultural point of view, of Romania.

My City and region- Bucuresti, is the capital of Romania, counting about 2 million inhabitants.  It blends Turkish influences - like Manuc's Inn, with French (the modern town), Soviet - the Press House - and imperial Ceausescu style - the House of the People.   The old center with its pubs and the Consignatia shops which offer antique art, folk art, wonderful things.  The surroundings of Bucuresti include the monastery of Snagov with Dracula's grave, the king's castles in Sinaia and the royal graves in the wonderful monastery of Curtea de Arges.  And there are the boroghs of Transylvania, the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina...

About Me- I have studied English and German, further history and arts.  As a licensed national guide of Romania I was interested in studying not only Romanian, but also foreign books about my country.  Hence my objective presentation of Romania, a great advantage for all my friends from abroad.

Special Interest Tours- I offer general tours of Bucuresti and Romania, cultural tours including monasteries, castles, citadels, but also nature tours - mountain hiking and Danube Delta Tours with bird watching.  Further the seaside with its ancient Greek and Roman colonies.

Walking Tour- For a private walking tour through Bucuresti I charge $20 per hour with a minimum number of 2 hours. 

Driving Tour- For a sightseeing tour of Bucuresti by car - $ 70 for maximum 3 persons (Peugeot 307 car), or $ 80 for maximum 7 persons (Hyundai H1 van).  These cars may be also used for touring through Romania at a rate of $ 0,4/km (Peugeot) and $ 0,5/km (Hyundai). 

Guide services: $50 for 4 hours for the whole group or $100 per full day plus accommodation if overnight not in Bucuresti. 

Any tour exceeding 8 days gets 5% discount. The two discounts can combined.
