St. Petersburg Tour Guide

Phot St petersburg GuideMy Name is Julia Ivanushkina and I am a private guide in St Petersburg, Russia. I offer you walking and driving private tours in St Petersburg and its suburbs. I can also arrange accommodation in St Petersburg hotels, Russian visa support, airport transfers and theatre tickets.

My City: St. Petersburg was founded only 300 years ago   but was  the capital of the huge Russian Empire for more than 200 years and so has magnificent C18 and C19 architecture, churches, statuary and public buildings. It witnessed three revolutions, survived the chaos of the 900 days of Siege in W W II and nonetheless remains so beautiful and young today. Give yourself  the chance to see the numerous baroque palaces of the Russian Nobility and the modest “communal” apartments of today's citizens of St Petersburg; the chance to ride the “Troika” in winter or summer and use the incredibly beautiful metro; the chance to   lose yourself (and then happily found by me) in the  galleries of the huge Hermitage; and still have time to see the way they open the bridges during White Nights, or listen to the noise of falling water in Russian Versailles – the Petergoff.

About Me: I am a fully licensed (which means you don’t have to pay for me in the museums) professional English speaking guide  who has been working with individuals and big groups from every corner of the world since 1998 (look through the “Feedback “section on my site shown below). Being a guide is a great pleasure for me: I really do what I have wanted to do all my life!!

Special Interest Tours: Tours for art/spot lovers (by bicycle - if you like)Novgorod tour (ancient capital of Russia) boat trips along rivers and canals, a Dostoevsky tour, “Our Soviet past” , a “WWII and Leningrad blockade” tour, a walking tour in the downtown , tours for cruise passengers, shopping tours, gastronomy tours, themed tours connected with your own interest or profession. I also work with big groups of people (up to 50).

My Past Guest's Comments

"My wife and I had the great pleasure of being escorted round St Petersburg by Julia. Her knowledge of this magical city is enormous and is only surpassed by her understanding of the contents of the Hermitage, room by room and picture by picture. In our three days, we visited the Peterhof with its sumptuous gardens and the Catherine Palace, both kept in beautiful condition despite the ravages of W W II, and especially the Amber Room. We saw the Kazansky Cathedral, modelled on St Peter's in Rome, and the Church of the Spilled Blood, a typical onion dome church filled with the most exquisite mosaics, and walked the length of the Nevsky Prospekt to see the Art Nouveau of the famous grocery whose name I can't recall (where we bought!) and we did the Yusupov Palace which was the home of a wealthy Tatar family, friends of the Romanovs, where Rasputin was (rather incompetently) assassinated. And, of course it is beautiful in its own right as only a private house of the wealthy can be. So much to see and so little time! But Julia got us round in spectacular fashion and I would heartily recommend her to anyone who is thinking of visiting this city - not least because parts of it can be quite dangerous for tourists and a good guide is essential."
